The large structure resembling an aircraft hangar being built south of the Las Vegas Strip, close to the South Point Casino, will function as a temporary soundstage for the second season of Amazon Prime’s “Beast Games,” according to a report by the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Tuesday. 

This is the reality TV game show created and hosted by MrBeast, the contentious YouTube sensation whose recent ventures in Las Vegas appeared to not go well enough to justify a comeback. 

MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has built the largest YouTube audience in the world with 385 million subscribers. As reported by the R-J, the Clark County permit for constructing the sound stage allows its use from May 1 to June 30, with a taping anticipated in mid-June. 

If initially you don’t achieve success… 

The inaugural season of “Beast Games,” recorded at Allegiant Stadium in July 2024, showcased 2,000 competitors competing for $5 million through various challenges such as towing monster trucks, tossing coconuts, and enduring a dead hang from a bar for the maximum duration. 

Promoted as “the largest contest in game show history,” it turned into one of its largest failures, leading to a class-action lawsuit claiming mistreatment. Lodged by five female contestants last September, the lawsuit claimed sexual harassment, inadequate food, lack of medical personnel, and unpaid expenses and salaries. (The matter is still unresolved.) 

A second MrBeast event in Las Vegas faced comparable reputational damage in April. At that moment, an irate crowd of refund-demanders surrounded the concierge counter at Resorts World. 

Each person paid $1K for “The MrBeast Experience,” a three-day package that guaranteed an “unforgettable” time with “a range of on-site activities at chosen restaurants on the premises, providing guests with an engaging experience.” 

The experience provided a box of chocolates and a bag of low-quality MrBeast merchandise to each hotel room. What it failed to provide was a visit, of any nature, from MrBeast, who was not present in Las Vegas during that time. 

Eventually, all victims received full refunds, but this occurred only after numerous national news organizations reported on the obvious scam. Donaldson also offered a complimentary tour of his North Carolina TV studio to anyone who was unhappy (which included everyone).
